McKee Park

Located on Lynn Lane across from the Starkville Sportsplex, McKee Park has one large and one small pavilion that may be used on a fee basis. Recreational facilities include

  • youth baseball fields
  • tennis courts
  • basketball court
  • playground equipment

Moncrief Park

Located on North Jackson Street, Moncrief Park has a pavilion with restrooms and four picnic tables available for a small fee. Facilities include

  • swimming pool
  • inline hockey court
  • playground equipment
  • dog park

George Evans Park

Located at 610 East Gillespie Street, George Evans Park has

  • basketball courts
  • playground equipment
  • plans for a future skateboard park

The Gillespie Center at the same location has a capacity of up to 80 people and is available for rent. The Center has a kitchen, restrooms, and tables for receptions, reunions, and other gatherings.

J. L. King Senior Memorial Park

Located on Westside Drive, J.L. King Senior Memorial Park offers

  • large multipurpose fields
  • basketball courts
  • tennis courts
  • swimming pool
  • pavilion
  • lighted walking path

Josey Park

On Josey Avenue on the west side of Starkville, Josey Park is the site of Starkville’s Community Garden. Recreational facilities include

  • concrete court
  • playground equipment

Patriot’s Park

Located at the intersection of Whitfield Street and Avenue of Patriots on the southwestern side of Starkville, Patriot’s Park includes

  • pavilion
  • playground equipment

Oktibbeha County Lake Campground

This county park is on the shore of a 479-acre lake known for its largemouth bass, catfish, crappie, and bream. Located 7 miles northwest of Starkville, facilities of the Oktibbeha County Lake Campground include

  • tent camping sites
  • camping pads with full hookups
  • boat ramp
  • restrooms
  • fishing piers
  • picnic areas with grill
  • designated swimming area

Waterskiing is permitted from noon to sunset. Daily use and camping fees apply; youth fishing (under age 16) is free.

MSU Rose Garden

Established in 2007, the Veterans Memorial Rose Garden is part of Mississippi State University’s horticulture program. The ADA-compliant garden is located at the entrance to the R.R. Foil Plant Science Research Facility on MS Hwy 182 just east of the university campus. It features

  • more than 30 rose cultivars
  • paved walkways through the rose beds
  • a central gazebo
  • three arbors
  • an arched bridge connecting the site to visitor parking
  • an ornate brick and steel fence
