The Scoop on Downtown Block Party This Friday!

By Mississippi's College Town
Wednesday, September 5th, 2012

We are gearing up for DOWNTOWN BLOCK PARTY this Friday night — the kick-off of our Friday evening New South Weekend events! Bulldog fans love any excuse to start a true maroon game weekend early, and this is the perfect reason to celebrate on the eve of the MSU/Auburn contest!

We are excited to host this year’s Block Party at College Park Shopping Center on the corner of Russell and Lampkin Streets in Downtown Starkville. Russell Street will be blocked off from the fire station to Hogan Street and filled with fun for the whole family. The details…

COLLEGE PARK at RUSSELL ST
6:00 – 8:00pm

MSU PEP RALLY at 6:00pm
Featuring the MSU Cheerleaders and Bully

TAILGATING WEAR FASHION SHOW at 7:00pm
Featuring styles from our Main Street member boutiques modeled by MSU Fashion Board as well as some more “mature” local beauties. A runway will be set-up, so bring your chairs for the show!
Participating shops include: Libby Story, LA Green, Deep South Pout, B Davis Shoes, Reeds, Book Mart & Cafe, Frock Fashions, Oooh La La, Harmonie Boutique, Occasions, R.Tabb & Co., Bath Bayou, Christine’s Couture, George Sherman

Live Music provided by Five Aces — your chance to hear local favorites Jeffrey Rupp, Jeff Cummings, Jim Beatty and more!

Dining with Lenny’s Sub Shop, Tutti Frutti and vood vendors including Tony’s BBQ & chicken tender/chili cheese fry plates from Two Sisters — Yum!

Plus, our friends at Prudential Starkville Properties will be celebrating their 10-year Anniversary with special treats and door prizes! You’ll also enjoy inflatable jumpers for the kids and after-hours shopping with College Park retailers. See you Friday!

[Parking is available at BankFirst Financial Services on Russell across from College Park and at Bancorp South rear lot on the northeast corner of Lampkin and Montgomery.]
