As part of our DOG DAYS OF SUMMER series, the event features six gardens are on display including five area residences and the terrace at the Hilton Garden Inn. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the Spring gardens in full bloom while also experiencing the work of local artists on location conducting their crafts in music, dance and painting. This unique combination of garden arts and fine arts is a real treat!
Emily Jones, 2012 Art in the Garden chairperson, shared her thoughts on the event: ”We are encouraging participants to come join us at the Hilton at 8 a.m., have some breakfast, then perhaps carpool to some of the gardens. The garden owners have been working for months to make their spaces picture perfect. This is an excellent opportunity to get new ideas and consult with Master Gardeners who will be in each garden to answer questions.”
The gardens on tour include:
Stephanie Doane and Gary Bradshaw garden at 976 West Briar Lake Drive
Don and Danya O’Bannon garden at 623 South Wedgewood Road
Guy and Nancy Hargrove garden at 115 Grand Ridge Road
P.C. and Barbara McLaurin garden at 505 Lincoln Green Street
Jimmy and Ginger Carver garden at 309 Green Street
Terrace garden at the Hilton Garden Inn.
A map to the gardens is available at the Starkville Area Arts Council website and will also be available at Hilton Garden Inn the morning of the event. We hope you’ll come out and enjoy Springtime in Starkville!
